| October Minutes |
Meeting called to order at 6:55 p.m. by President, Dave Root, at Allegan Pizza Parlor.
Attendance: Dave Root, Teresa Creech, Bill Creech, Missy Root, Lori Drozd
Absent: Kim Hays (sent word she had a previous commitment)
The minutes from the August 13th and September 4th meetings were presented. A motion was made
by Missy Root to accept the minutes with the following changes: August minutes: the line at the
bottom of the page that reads “The next board meeting will be Monday… should read “Tuesday”.
September minutes: Date at the top should read September 4th, 2007. Seconded by Bill Creech;
motion carried.
First on the agenda was to set a price to charge the newest player added to the U14 Girls ACES
team. Discussion followed. A motion was made by Lori Drozd to charge the added player a mid-
season fee, totaling $130 with a break-down of $90 for the fall 2007 season (including a bag) and
$40 for the spring 2008. Seconded by B. Creech; Motioned carried.
L. Drozd presented the board with a balance of around $200. A discussion followed as to the need
for fundraising. The date of Saturday, November 10 has been set for a pop can drive. It will be held
from 10 am – 2 pm. The establishment for returning the donations will be determined at a later date.
Teresa Creech will contact Wal-Mart to see if we can use their store. She will also contact Village
Market, the location we used in the spring. We also have one player that has not paid their fees. B.
Creech volunteered to talk to the family to arrange a payment plan. Dave Root will contact
Kalamazoo Kingdom to discuss their “per team donations” and City of Allegan player fees.
D. Root would like the board to think about making a monetary contribution to Allegan Public Schools
for the use of the middle school soccer field. Please consider a dollar amount to give and who should
receive the donation: APS general fund, APS athletic department, soccer program directly, etc.
A discussion was had on how to get other parents involved with the ACES organization. T. Creech
volunteered to draw up a flyer/newsletter to present to the parents with the remaining practice and
game schedule, the date of the pop can drive, the remaining board meetings for 2007 and future
soccer plans for November, December, and January.
D. Root and B. Creech will need to attend GVSA coach certification classes in the off season. This
needs to be taken into consideration when looking at our financial situation.
Discussion was had about holding winter try-outs for teams to be added in the spring 2008. There
has been interest in adding a team comprised of current JV and Varsity men’s soccer players. Follow-
up discussion will be needed at the November board meeting. A date, time and location will need to
be set.
The next board meeting will be Thursday, November 8th, 2007, at the Pizza Parlor at 6:00.
A motion to adjourn was made by M. Root, seconded by Drozd; meeting adjourned at 7:55.
