Meeting called to order at 6:15 p.m. by President, Dave Root, at Allegan Pizza Parlor.
Attendance: Dave Root, Teresa Creech, Bill Creech, Kim Hays, Lori Drozd
Absent: Missy Root (had to work)
The minutes from the July 9th meeting were presented. A motion was made by Lori
Drozd to accept the minutes as presented. Seconded by Bill Creech; motion carried.
Dave Root presented the game schedule. He is trying to reschedule the 9/15 and 9/22
games. Root will notify when changes are made. Practice will begin this Thursday,
August 16th, at the Complex from 6-7:30. The next two weeks, practice will be Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday, ending on 8/30. When school starts (September 4th) practices
will be Tuesday and Thursday, from 6-7:30. A location is still to be determined. Drozd,
Root and Teresa/Bill Creech will make phone calls to notify players. When calling,
please ask for uniform size (jersey & shorts); email address, favorite number with an
alternate number. Also, ask if player/parent is interested in purchasing a red player bag
for $19.95.
T. Creech will check with Score to confirm the uniform price, place order and confirm
delivery of uniforms. T. Creech will also notify Ryan Thompson of our desire to have
him referee for ACES. She will give Thompson Phil Baker’s (Ref Assignor) information.
Root spoke about trying to work with AYSO to arrange field space for two U9, one U11
and one U12 teams from Kingdom, Plainwell. Root will ask to have Kingdom teams pay
us City fees of $10/player prior to first game. Kingdom will pay for nets if they need to
use Jaycee Park. Root discussed ACES being able to participate in some training
sessions as an “exchange” for allowing Kingdom teams to play under ACES. Root will
contact Dennis to set training session dates. Hopefully, they can coordinate with our
practice schedule; May need fundraisers to cover the cost of $36/player for 4 sessions.
A discussion was had as to how to fill the vacant board positions. Asking Plainwell to
contribute some members was one idea.
Fundraising ideas were discussed. Pop can drive, asking for donations; we need about
$1000 to take care of our needs for the first year. Current balance is around/below
$100. Drozd will try to find a date to have a pop can drive/sleep over for the team.
It was discussed and agreed that the team should participate in the Allegan County Fair
parade if we can still get in. Kim Hays will call to check on that. Either a pick up truck
or a hay wagon will be used to participate in the parade.
The next board meeting will be Monday, September 4th, 2007, following practice at the
practice location.
A motion to adjourn was made by Drozd, seconded by Hays; meeting adjourned at 8:20.
